3M has the best buffing & polishing compounds if you know how to use them and have the right equipment. I have body shop experience so I know what I'm doing, but if you're not careful, you could burn through your paint. This is the fist step in either renewing old single stage paint or buffing out new clear coat that has been sanded with 1500 grit wet sandpaper. This is used with a wool or foam buffing pad. The next step is the 3M Polishing Compound used with the black foam polishing bad. This is a finer buffing and takes out the swirl marks left from the rubbing compound. Finally, I use 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. This is what professional body shops use and is the best method for buffing. I like this 8oz size because the only size at my paint supply shop is 32 oz. Good for a body shop but way too much for me. This small bottle goes a long way and will last me for a while. If you don't have a professioal variable speed buffer and the right buffing pads, this may not be the best choice. If you do have the right tools and the know-how, this stuff is great. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "3M 03900 Rubbing Compound - 8 oz." are high quality item.
