Cheaper and lighter than the original polydron set, this is a great product for exploring 3-D geometry.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that assembling it is still a challenge even for dexterous 7 year olds.

I was concerned that the picture showed slip syringes, but described luer lock. I wanted the luer locks for measuring food based flavorings. A box of 100 in sterile packaging luer lock 3mls with caps (without needles) is what arrived.
I'm very happy, the syringes are clearly marked for ml/cc with large numbers. Luer lock makes it easy to attatch and keep on blunt tip needles for dispensing food flavoring (which can sometimes be thick, you dont want the tip flying off!).

3B Scientific A21 Plastic 3 Part Numbered Human Classic Skull Model, 7.9" x 5.3" x 6.1" Review

I found this most helpful in getting more comfortable with the foramen and other landmarks/markings of the skull. Having the landmarks/markings numbered with a corresponding answer key helped me know exactly that I was looking at what I thought I was looking at. Much better than buying it unmarked and finding out that what I thought was the foramen ovale really was the foramen lacerum! The required landmarks/markings (that I had to know for my specific A&P class) that were not marked on this particular skull were...supraorbital foramen, zygomatic arch, foramen magnum (obvious, but still, not marked), medial and lateral pterygoid plates of sphenoid bone, olfactory foramina (of ethmoid bone), ethmoid air cells, perpendicular plate, superior nasal concha (could only see on individual ethmoid bone anyway), middle nasal concha, orbital plate of ethmoid bone, alveolar processes, palatine process, temporal process, inferior nasal concha, body of mandible, ramus of mandible, and angle of mandible. Of all of these unmarked features, only the olfactory foramina, ethmoid air cells and the superior nasal concha could not have been marked anyway because these features weren't present or obvious on the skull. The rest of the features I mentioned were on the skull (and could have been marked, but weren't). All in all though, I found this a worthwhile purchase. The cost wasn't too much, and most of what I needed to be there was there!

Learning Resources Cross Section Human Heart Model Review

I ordered this toy for demonstration purposes in an upcoming Toastmasters speech I'm giving. The foam is really neat, but the printed depictions of the cross section should be laminated or something. They are sort of "cheap" and the only disappointing part to this toy. The inside will not hold up to kids playing with it.

It is an accurate depiction of the heart - including the chordae (strings) on the mitral valve. It does not show the leaflets of the valves, but most kids are not going to care.

The vendor shipped the product the day I ordered it and I had it a couple of days after. That was impressive. It was well packaged.

There is a neat leaflet that accompanies this that outlines several projects.

I am overall very happy with my purchase.

In 30 seconds to 1 minute I can take a reading and verify the operation of my electronic hygrometers. For what it is, it is well built and extremely easy to use. Once you've verified the accuracy of the thermometers, you're off and running. Amazon calls this a toy, but it gets the job done.

American Educational Fossil Starter Bag Review

I am very impressed with this product for the price I paid for it. None of the pieces are amazing, but it's a really nice set for $14.00. Each piece is individually labeled with a number; you look the number up on the sheet and it tells you some basic info about it (location found, name, era). My son and I handled all of the pieces and studied them for our fossil unit. All the labels are still firmly attached. The color sheet they send with it is okay - nothing spectacular, but a little informative. Overall, well worth $14.00. An excellent kit.

Desktop Trebuchet Review

This was fun to build, and educational. The functional differences between the Trebuchet and the Onager (the two main classes of catapults - gravity powered vs. torsion powered at the simplest), their strengths and weaknesses, and basic construction of both, can sound more difficult than they really are, if you can just see how the two of them are built and play with them for 5 minutes in scale form.

Building this was not that difficult, but don't be expecting a snap together construction kit to build quickly. You provide the carpenters glue and clamps (to hold pieces together while drying) in order to put this together. Some sandpaper, and a couple of different sizes / shapes of files allow you to clean up some spots nicely and make the parts fit well.

While it might have been possible to put the entire kit together in under an hour, I spend some extra time sanding and filing to clean up some joints and make parts fit correctly, round the part where the sling slips off the end of the arm so it works smoothly, and so on. I also only had a half dozen of the small and medium size spring clamps to hold wood together while the glue dries, so I found some logical stopping points where I could let one part dry for 20 or 30 minutes so the glue was setup strongly enough before I started gluing and clamping another part of the kit. With the extra work cleaning up some rough parts (and just making some look better for cosmetic reasons), along with those 20 minute to half hour breaks for glue drying to re-use the clamps, my son and I spent a late afternoon and evening building this, for an overall time of around 4 hours total. If you had some other reason to go pick up more clamps at Home Depot, or you do other woodworking projects and just happend to have a dozen or more clamps available to keep working on more sections at once, you can easily cut that time in half.

Be prepared to spend a little time experimenting with different weight projectiles, and slightly different lengths of line on the sling to see how it differs in launch angle and throw distance. The specs given to build it work out OK to get it firing and start some testing work. But you can see how varying the counterweight has little impact on distance, as long as it's much heavier than the projectile. Heavier projectiles come out of the sling at different launch angles, which varies the distance. We tried testing a marshmallow, the wooden ball that comes with the kit, and a slightly larger superball as test projectiles. Outdoors would be best, as even this small scale kit can launch harder projectiles like the wooden ball fast / far enough to cause problems with walls and furniture indoors if you're not careful.
