The 3B Scientific A18/1 “Shorty” miniature human skeleton model is used for anatomical study. The model has a removable skull that dissembles into the skullcap, the base of the skull, and the mandible; and removable arms and legs for effective demonstration. The A18/1 has a flexible spine with soft intervertebral discs for detailed examination, and flexibly mounted hip joints for demonstrating natural hip rotation. The model has a hanging stand that can be placed on the floor or mounted on a wall for display. Anatomical models are typically used as educational aids in medical and scientific classrooms and office settings.

The A18/1 is hand assembled for durability, and is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic, which is corrosion resistant, lightweight, and has high strength. PVC resists reactions with acids, gasoline, alcohol, and hydrocarbons.

I purchased this skeleton because I have had good experiences in the past with 3B products. In this case I was particularly attracted to the flexible spine as it would allow me to demonstrate certain things in my self-care classes.

However, in actuality the spine was totally rigid. So I now have the added hassle of having to pack it back up and return it. Thus one star less for not being as described and one star less for having to return it. Otherwise it is beautifully made and a great size.
