Product Description
(tie-RAN-oh-SORE-us) best known simply as T-rex, and first discovered by Barnum Brown in eastern Wyoming during 1900. Described by Henry Fairfied Osborn in 1905. T-rex has been debated to be both warm and cold blooded, preditor and scavenger. Tyrannosaurus made the news recently when viable protin was discovered in the fossilized bone of a new specimen. The concept of a slow moving, tail dragging beast has changed a lot over the 100 plus years since first dicoverd, and Tyrannosaurus is now thought to have been an agile hunter that may have lived in family groups.Tyrannosaurus rex Tooth (5.5 in) (Teaching Quality Recreation) Review
The cast itself is a nice teaching tool--I use it in an introductory-level biology course when we are discussing prehistoric ecosystems and mass extinctions. Students get a kick out of holding the tooth of one of the largest terrestrial predators that has ever existed. However--this cast is 4.5 inches in length, not 5.5 inches as stated in the item title. That extra inch would make the tooth even more impressive, and it's disappointing that the advertised size is inflated by 20%. So for the misleading information I am subtracting two stars. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Tyrannosaurus rex Tooth (5.5 in) (Teaching Quality Recreation)" are high quality item.
