The kit may work as expected for the price, but there are a couple noteworthy complaints about its performance. The distilling column is rather poor due to the sealing stoppers which do not have the correct bore diameter. This caused my kit to spray everywhere during a test run where I was trying to distill water.

I would seriously consider buying this stuff piecemeal as the quality of each part is less than what Sciplus usually sells. The glassware is of the lowest quality and doesn't make me feel comfortable with the heat involved and the potential for injury.

Look at getting a distillation column elsewhere. Another note is that a Graham Condenser is much better that the one included here.

The holders work as advertised once you can get the wires connected to them. But it was very difficult for me to get the wires connected. The only way I could connect them was to wrap a stripped end of wire around the screw and try to tighten the screw, but even then, the wires can still come loose if you pull hard enough. On some of them, the screws wouldn't even tighten at all; they must have been stripped or something. If you need something in a pinch, these work OK, but you should definitely buy a better product if you can find one.

I'm building a slit-less spectrograph and needed a concave lens. This fit the bill. You actually get 5 of them which are well packaged for shipping with each wrapped in tissue paper and in it's own little cardboard box. The edges are nicely ground, so no sliced fingers! These are large (75mm is about 3") and sort of heavy. Very nice quality. Also, they're DOUBLE CONCAVE: meaning that each lens is curved INWARD ON BOTH SIDES.

In case you're doing some optical project but unsure what you need: if you hold this right up to your eye everything looks farther away and blurry. If you hold it a foot from you eye or farther things look clear, but SMALLER, like looking into the wrong end of a pair of binoculars. If you lay this lens on a sheet of newspaper the lens will make the text look *slightly* smaller and everything a little darker

The ground edges are frosted looking and ever so *slightly* greenish.
