This is a wonderful (and rare to find) resource for elementray students on spatial thinking. Fun activities that require mira (did not come with a book!) build solid foundation for future study of geometry.
My daughter (a 3d grade math student) loves exercises with mira. They are fun yet challenging.
The book begins with introduction to reflections. Following are examples of activities: move the mira in different directions and watch what happens to the image; slide the mira and try to make new figures.
Gradually, new ideas are introduced in exercises with mira. For example, a child learns to trace images of objects, recognize patterns between object motion and mira motion, and draw a mira-line (a symmetry line) between object and its image.
Later in a book, the concepts of parallelism and perpendicularity are introduced in similar maner - through exploration the realtion between an object and its image.
The great part is there is no formal conclusions and dry theory! Through fun activities, through exploration with mira a child gains undestanding of fundamental concepts of geometry.
I highly recommend this book!
